Job Summary
The Director Data Architecture will be responsible for shaping Optimum’s data vision, by defining enterprise data architecture, driving modernization and migration strategy, and enabling AI/GenAI/Agentic AI capabilities across the organization. You will play a critical leadership role in transforming our data platforms into scalable, AI-powered, business-ready assets.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise data architecture vision and multi-year roadmap
- Establish target-state architecture (cloud lakehouse, data mesh, semantic layer)
- Align architecture with business priorities, analytics, and AI initiatives
- Drive adoption of standardized, reusable architecture patterns
- Lead end-to-end architecture across: Data ingestion (batch, streaming, real-time), Data transformation (ETL/ELT pipelines), Data storage (lakehouse, warehouse) and Consumption (analytics, APIs, AI models)
- Enable integration across internal systems and external data sources
- Define architecture for Generative AI, LLMs, and Agentic AI frameworks and build AI-ready data platforms (feature stores, knowledge layers, vector stores)
- Partner with business teams to identify and scale AI use cases from PoC to production
- Define and execute enterprise migration strategy: Legacy → cloud (GCP lakehouse, batch and streaming architecture)
- Lead platform consolidation and tool rationalization initiatives
- Define data contracts, standards, and reusable datasets
- Support enterprise analytics, customer platforms, and AI-driven decisioning
- Establish standards for: Data quality, metadata, lineage, and MDM along with Security, privacy, and regulatory compliance
- Drive execution of large-scale transformation programs and collaborate with business, product, and technology stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering) or related field of study.
- 12–15+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
- Proven experience leading enterprise data modernization and migration programs
- Strong expertise in: Cloud data platforms (GCP preferred) and Lakehouse, streaming, and distributed architectures
- Experience delivering AI/ML or Generative AI solutions at scale
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Agentic AI / autonomous workflow systems is preferred
- Background in telecom / large-scale customer data environments is preferred.

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is CAD 181,427.00 - CAD 298,060.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire and does not reflect future job opportunity.
