Job Summary
As a Core Services Automation Software Engineer, you will serve a key function driving enterprise automation across systems, platforms, and services.
This role is focused on designing, building, testing and shipping scalable automation across the enterprise ecosystem—connecting cloud platforms, identity services, infrastructure systems, and operational tools to enable consistent, reliable, and efficient operations.
You will deliver on automation strategies, guide architectural decisions, and partner across engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver end-to-end automation software and integrations, owning the full software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Automation Architecture & Integration
- Design, build, test, and deploy automation software, tools, and services that integrate enterprise systems and services
- Define and maintain automation frameworks, patterns, and standards across the organization
- Lead design of end-to-end workflows spanning multiple systems, APIs, and platforms
- Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and operational requirements
- Design and maintain reusable automation libraries, modules, and internal APIs consumed by other engineering teams; produce technical design documentation for major automation solutions
- Enterprise Automation Delivery
- Develop production-quality code and develop internal tools and applications
- Write and maintain automated tests and participate in code reviews
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and manage code in version control (Git)Develop automation using tools such as:
- PowerShell and Python (primary development languages)
- Ansible and terraform for infrastructure-as-code (secondary)
- Build and maintain automated software solutions that manage:
- Provisioning and configuration workflows
- System integrations and data flows
- Monitoring, auditing, and operational processes
- Troubleshoot complex automation and integration issues, providing root cause analysis and long-term remediation
- Own and maintain a shared automation codebase supporting enterprise systems across the organization, serving as a platform other engineering teams build upon
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance automation capabilities
- Identify opportunities to standardize workflows and reduce manual processes
- Guide evolution of automation platforms and integration strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in automation engineering within enterprise environments
- Strong experience designing, developing, and shipping automation across multiple systems and platforms
- Advanced proficiency in:
- PowerShell and/or Python (primary development languages)
- Ansible and terraform for infrastructure-as-code (required; secondary to core software development)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals:
- Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Version control (Git)
- REST API development
- CI/CD pipelines
- Microsoft cloud and identity development, including:
- Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph API, and M365 development
- Experience with agentic AI tools and development workflows (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
- Preferred
- Experience with development and collaboration tools:
- JIRA, GitHub or GitLab, Confluence
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices
- Experience designing or supporting enterprise integrations across identity, infrastructure, and application platforms
