Job Summary

The Sr. Director, Chief of Staff is a senior leadership role embedded within the Office of the CEO, serving as the connective tissue between the CEO’s Office and the broader organization. This role is a strategic and operational partner responsible for ensuring that the CEO's time, attention, and organizational priorities are protected, sequenced, and executed with precision. This individual reports to the Head of Office of the CEO.

This is a role that requires equal comfort between balancing influence and action. Everything from driving execution against priorities, overseeing an employee roundtable, and holding senior leaders accountable for a deliverable that is overdue. It demands someone who thrives in ambiguity, operates with urgency, and understands that success in this role is measured entirely by the success of the people and agenda it serves.

To apply for this position, the company will need:

  • An updated resume,
  • A cover letter describing your interest and qualifications toward the role
  • Additionally, internal applicants must confer with their direct leader to ensure their support in applying for the role. Optimum reserves the right to contact the applicant’s manager.

Responsibilities

Strategic Prioritization & Decision Support

  • Partner with the Office of the CEO, the CEO and ELT to identify, sequence, and accelerate the organization's highest-leverage priorities.
  • Serve as a thought partner in evaluating competing demands on the CEO's attention and making recommendations on where focus and resources should be directed.

Follow-Through & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Translate CEO decisions and directives into clear ownership, timelines, and accountability structures.
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination between the CEO's office and functional leaders, ensuring seamless execution across complex, cross-functional workstreams.
  • Track commitments made in leadership forums and drive follow-through without requiring direct CEO involvement.
  • Anticipate friction points, identify where execution is stalling and intervene with the right leaders to unblock progress.
  • Surface patterns, risks, and opportunities from across the organization that merit CEO awareness.

Logistics & Office of the CEO Operations

  • Help oversee the end-to-end operational logistics of the Office of the CEO, including the corporate master calendar, CEO meeting planning and preparation, among others.
  • Coordinate with internal partners to create meeting and presentation materials required by the CEO.

Agenda Development & Meeting Architecture

  • Develop and manage the agendas and follow ups for CEO-driven meetings.
  • Ensure that every CEO touchpoint, review, and leadership engagement is purposeful, well-prepared, and connected to strategic objectives.
  • Lead pre-meeting preparation for CEO’s meetings including defining expected outcomes, ensuring the right people are in attendance, and that materials are provided to the CEO in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

· 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success operating at or adjacent to the executive level in a complex, fast-moving organization

· Exceptional organizational intelligence —discerning between short- term priorities, and long-term focuses, understanding how decisions get made, where power sits, and how to move things forward without direct authority

· A track record of building and managing operating rhythms, governance structures, and cross-functional accountability systems

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize complex information quickly and communicate with clarity to any audience

· High emotional intelligence and discretion; capable of handling sensitive information and navigating complex interpersonal dynamics with maturity

· A bias toward action paired with rigorous attention to detail — closing loops, consistent follow through, and holding others to the same standard
