Job Summary

The Senior Sales Engineer (Sr. SE) serves as a strategic technical advisor and key partner to the Commercial Sales organization, driving revenue growth and customer retention through expert solution design, consultation, and implementation support. This role provides advanced pre-sales and post-sales technical leadership across complex voice, data, and video solutions.

The Sr. SE combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to translate customer requirements into scalable, high-impact solutions. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Sr. SE engages with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional partners to design, present, and implement tailored telecommunications and networking solutions. This role also provides Tier II/III technical support and contributes to product development initiatives, ensuring service quality and customer satisfaction throughout the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Pre-Sales & Solution Design

  • Partner with Account Executives, fiber construction, and network engineering to provide advanced technical consultation during the sales cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Fiber Construction and Network Engineering, to design and deliver scalable, qualified network solutions for customer deployment
  • Lead discovery sessions to assess customer business needs, technical environments, and solution requirements.
  • Design and architect wireless networking, IoT integration, data, video, and managed service solutions.
  • Develop technical proposals, network diagrams (e.g., Visio), and solution documentation.
  • Present technical solutions and value propositions to clients, including executive-level stakeholders.

Customer Engagement & Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers and their IT teams.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused communication.
  • Support “application-based selling” strategies to maximize customer value and revenue opportunities.
  • Ensure solutions align with customer goals, technical requirements, and internal standards.

Sales Enablement & Collaboration

  • Train and mentor sales teams on core technologies, products, and solution positioning.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Construction, Field Service, and Operations-Project Management teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Support RFP/RFI responses, including technical narratives, solution design, and pricing inputs.
  • Provide technical leadership during strategic or high-value pursuits.

Implementation & Post-Sales Support

  • Oversee technical validation and solution handoff to implementation teams.
  • Provide Tier II/III escalation support for complex customer issues.
  • Ensure successful deployment and customer satisfaction through ongoing engagement.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Product teams on service development, enhancements, and compatibility testing.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and customer experience.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in telecommunications, networking, or technical sales engineering roles
  • Proven success supporting complex enterprise or mid-market sales environments
  • Strong experience in solution design, customer engagement, and technical sales support

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of voice, data, video, and IP networking technologies
  • Experience with:
    • Hamina/Ekahau, MS Visio, BlueBeam VUE, Salesforce, MS Office 365 Suite, various AI professional working design tools and PC-based network utility tools Proven design and analysis experience with, TCP/IP LAN/WAN, OSI Model, Network Security, , Firewalls, VPNs
    • Techstack-layer technology IoT, IP Video, VoIP, SAAS, Fiber PON/Multi-Gigabit, HFC Broadband Internet, LTE, DOCSIS technology
    • Data storage and enterprise networking environments
    • Internet services, cloud/managed services, hosting, and collocation
    • Ability to design secure, scalable network architectures

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA), CCNA, CCNP, or similar industry credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks or similar broadband infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of competitive telecom service offerings and market landscape.
  • Experience supporting large-scale RFPs and enterprise solution deals.
